Issues

Communication

In order to do our job effectively as a district, we MUST maintain an open communication system with families and employees of the district. Too many times, the district has communicated something at the eleventh hour with a small window for feedback. It has happened to me as a parent, and I fear, it has unfortunately happened to you. District employees have shared that many times they operate in the dark about issues that directly impact them. As a Trustee, it will be my expectation that our district communicate with parents, faculty and staff in a way that is expedient, open, and honest. Our community deserves and expects it.

Student Mental Health

As school counselor and parent, I’m most concerned about the social/emotional effects the pandemic will have on students & subsequently, our community. The district must invest in mental health professionals & programs to address possible long-term effects. We know the pandemic has already begun to affect children in ways that will manifest at a later time. Being proactive & having a district roadmap will be imperative.

Transparency

As a community, we expect to be kept informed of what is happening inside our schools and the decisions being made. Our families entrust our district with their children and we have an obligation to be open and honest. My promise to the PfISD community is that I will always serve in a transparent manner, no matter the issues. You deserve it.

Equity in Education

All parents want only the best for their children. Many times it drives our decision to live where we do, purchase a home in the neighborhoods we do, and select the schools we do. It is essential that all students in PfISD get the same education as other Central Texas students. Parents expect the board to provide their children with the best opportunities and as such, the board is obligated to do so. As a member of the board, I will ensure this is a reality. Our curriculum should be rigorous, our programs competitive, and our graduates should be ready for college, a career, or the military.

Community Voice

As a board, we serve you. This includes students, families, faculty, staff, and all citizens in Pflugerville ISD. Everyone deserves to have a voice in the decisions that are made...particularly as they affect you. There should be no barriers due to scheduling, language, or comfort level. We serve you and you have a voice with me as your Trustee.
